Aladdin Campus Dining debuts its first Citizen Chicken at Southern Oregon University (SOU), Ashland, OR. Director of University Housing Staci Buchwald says, “SOU is always happy to partner and collaborate with Aladdin and is very proud to be the first campus to spotlight Citizen Chicken. Our community is always thankful for new food concepts on campus and the feedback from students so far has been overwhelmingly positive.”
A concept developed in partnership with our chefs across the country, Citizen Chicken offers a tasty variety of “chicken sandwiches” that remains one of the hottest food trends according to the National Restaurant Association (NRA). The official ribbon-cutting celebration was held in Elmo’s Grill, the main eatery located inside the Stevenson Union on the university’s Ashland, Oregon campus, Wednesday, May 17.
Students will be able to select from high-quality made-from-scratch sauces and sides, not just your ordinary chicken sandwich. High-quality plant-based chicken sandwiches, Nashville hot sandwiches, chicken BLTs, and the chicken and waffles served with fries, cilantro slaw, and crunchy corn muffins will all become student favorites across campus. Mac and cheese, fried pickles, collard greens, and Caesar salads round out the menu students can order from.
“The new Citizen Chicken opens innovative culinary and Southern culture opportunities to Aladdin locations across the country, where students, but also members of our local communities can savor the tastes of the deep south. We are excited to bring additional quality food options, and our brands respond to what our students want to eat on campus,” says Aladdin Director of Culinary, Chef Eric Pearce.
Citizen Chicken is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is part of Elmo’s retail center on campus, joining Aladdin’s other top retail brands including WeBurg, Dabrix, Grains & Greens, and the Teriyaki Grill. Elmo’s is open to the local community, where Aladdin is proud to serve delicious meals while getting to know the people from our local neighborhoods!
